Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 Medjool dates pitted
  • 6 oz Gouda cheese cut into small sticks
  • 2 tbsp honey optional drizzle
  • 2 tbsp toasted almonds chopped, optional
  • pinch of sea salt optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice each date lengthwise, remove the pit if not already pitted, and insert a stick of Gouda into each date.
  • Place the stuffed dates on the prepared baking sheet with the opening side facing up.
  • Drizzle lightly with honey and sprinkle with a small pinch of sea salt if desired.
  • Bake for 8 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt and the dates are warmed through.
  • Remove from oven and top with chopped toasted almonds, if using.
  • Serve warm and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a smokier flavor, try wrapping the dates in bacon before baking. You can also try smoked Gouda for a bolder flavor profile. Use fresh, moist dates for best results.
