Ingredients
  

For the Beef Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

For Assembly

  • 4 burger buns lightly buttered
  • fresh lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 pickle slices
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese optional

For the Sauce (Optional)

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form into ¾-inch thick patties. Press a small indent in the center of each patty to ensure even cooking.
  • Preheat the grill to high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  • Grill the patties for about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Add cheese slices during the last minute if using.
  • Toast the buns on the grill for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and Dijon mustard to create the optional sauce.
  • Assemble the burger: spread sauce on buns, then layer lettuce, tomato, patty, onion, and pickles. Top with the bun’s crown and serve immediately.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to check internal temp (130–135°F for medium-rare). Rest patties briefly before assembling to retain juices.
